Snoozine is an online speculative magazine dedicated to bringing you the best genre content possible. We are looking for work filled with the intangible qualities of the dream and the uncanny traits of the nightmare.
We plan to publish four issues per year, with dedicated themes for each. These will be split into two volumes, with one issue in each volume dedicated to “Dreams” and the other to “Nightmares.” Contests and other writing activities are in the works as well, so stay tuned for more news!
Jessi Alford: Editor-in-Chief, General Manager
Jessi is currently pursuing their MFA in Popular Fiction and Publishing at Emerson College. They previously completed their Master’s in English and Creative Writing at Southern New Hampshire University, where they discovered a penchant for writing weird, mildly macabre fiction that unites queer and country themes—they are “quntry” if you will. Under their pen name, █████ ██████, their work has been published in 2024 Kentucky Visions Short Story Contest Finalists: Bluegrass Writers Coalition Inc., MicroLit Almanac, Monstrous Femme, Chill Mag, and Moonday Mag. Their short story, “█████████ █████████” received a Best of the Net nomination. They enjoy reading fever dream sequences with a tongue-in-cheek voice, a strong sense of narrative, and silly, if not deranged, characters.
Suzanne Bjornson: Editorial staff, Visual Arts Manager, Outreach Coordinator
Suzanne is currently pursuing her MFA in Creative Writing. Her work has been published in Monstrous Femme and MicroLit Almanac. Her piece, “The Color Wheel of You,” was nominated for Best Microfiction. She often loses herself in intricate character work for her sapphic leads and constructing fantasy worlds one spell at a time. A lover of anything speculative, she’s on the lookout for stories with a strong sense of voice and worlds she can dwell in—preferably rent-free.
Kirsten Genslinger: Editorial staff, Social Media Manager
Kirsten is (almost done) working on her MFA in Creative Writing at Southern New Hampshire University. She’s submitted short works to various magazines such as Lumina and Midnight Chem with no luck, but she perseveres (she’ll get accepted somewhere… eventually). She reads what she writes and has her head firmly planted in the clouds, dreaming up story ideas and new worlds every chance she gets. With her heart set firmly in speculative fiction and romance, she loves secondary worlds, brilliant character development, mythical creatures, and stories that will crush her heart and soul–as long as there’s a happily ever after to look forward to (but make it hurt on the way there).
Randall Madden: Editorial staff, Website Manager
Randall is currently pursuing his MFA in Creative Writing at Southern New Hampshire University, where he also completed his Master’s in English and Creative Writing. His work has been published in Circus Lit, Chill Mag, and Moss Puppy Magazine. His madcap musings dwell mostly in fantasy, with occasional departures into horror, romance, and comedy. His current project is an epic fantasy with elements of romance and horror. He loves to read anything speculative with an edge of the weird and surreal. Genre is less important than mood, voice, and atmosphere. Take him to an imagined place he never could have found without your guidance.
