Snoozine is currently closed to submissions.
***PLEASE NOTE: Snoozine does not accept submissions outside our submission windows. Anything sent between submission periods will be rejected automatically.
What we want:
If it’s speculative, there’s a good chance we’re interested. Give us genre fiction, dreams and nightmares steeped in the fantastical. Wow us with dreamscapes laced with the uncanny and the strange, the beautiful and the whimsical. We’ll take any subgenre of fantasy, sci-fi, or horror. Here’s a non-exhaustive list of speculative subgenres.
Deadlines:
Snoozine will be open for submissions beginning October 1. The deadline for submissions will be October 31st, or until we have 100 submissions, whichever comes first!
Please use our submission form to submit your work. Ensure that the form is filled out accurately and completely; failure to adhere to guidelines will result in disqualification from consideration.
We aim to have all responses sent out within three weeks of the submission window closing.
Author’s Rights:
If Snoozine accepts your work, you agree to grant us exclusive first publication rights, as well as the non-exclusive right to include your work in online archives and in print versions of the volume for which it was selected. Should your work appear elsewhere in the future, you agree to credit Snoozine as the original publisher. Further, you agree to grant us first audio rights, as well as the non-exclusive right to include your work in audio form in online archives for the volume for which it was selected.
Formatting your Submission:
Submissions must adhere to these guidelines. PLEASE READ THE ARTICLE and familiarize yourself with the formatting we expect. Failure to adhere to these guidelines is likely to result in automatic rejection of your work.
Prose:
Snoozine is looking for speculative fiction, particularly stories that explore the current theme and work with concepts relating to dreamscapes and nightmare realms. We have categories for both flash fiction and short stories.
*We will consider work up to 10,000 words only if it has been queried first. Before submitting work over 6,000 words, please reach out to us at did.snoozine@gmail.com to discuss the submission.
Poetry:
We accept poetry submissions of up to five poems. Combined, these must not exceed one hundred lines.
Comics:
We are interested in short-form and serialized comics. Please query potential ideas with our editors by emailing us at did.snoozine@gmail.com.
We plan to dedicate up to 30 pages in every issue to comics. When querying with us, please keep this limitation in mind.
There is no minimum page count for comics. We will request a maximum of 10 pages per edition for serialized stories. For one-shot comics, we will request a maximum of 20 pages. Please know that these page counts are subject to fluctuate depending on the needs of each issue. Also, keep in mind that we want to be flexible with these restrictions; don’t self-reject just because you’re one page over. If you’re creating quality work, we want to see it!
Please prepare the following and submit them in one email to did.snoozine@gmail.com. Include COMIC QUERY in the title of your email.
Art:
We accept art inspired by each issue’s theme.
Color artwork is preferred. We accept all visual art styles. However, photography will be a hard sell. Digital and traditional paintings, illustrations, and drawings are our favorites! Remember, as with prose, no AI or AI-assisted submissions will be accepted.
We want original work, so please do not submit anything that has been accepted for publication elsewhere!
What we don’t want:
We’d love to see your original pieces. This means no AI-generated or assisted works and no fan-fiction. Previously published material is not accepted at this time—this does not include work published on personal blogs or personal social media channels.
We encourage submitting writers to explore sensitive topics; however, this must be done tactfully. We never want to restrict how you express your dreams, but if any of the following topics are promoted or glorified by your work, then it will result in automatic rejection of your piece:
